Scholarship Update
by Steven Ferry
We are happy to report that the lady who was awarded a partial scholarship as organized by Mr. Jim Grise and supported by several people in the domestic services industry, has already started on the course. In her own words:
“The course is going well—I am enjoying the content and the first module completion date is the 23rd of February….I also met some interesting fellow students during the live Q&A, one who is an Estate Manager in Seattle; we are in communication with each other now. The convenor was interested to know that I was the recipient of your Scholarship. We have another Q&A tomorrow and it is a very good way to exchange ideas and information. I’m very glad to be doing this course for many reasons. I will keep you updated regularly.”
On a similar note, the affiliation of butler schools that is currently being formed is looking at combining its resources to create a scholarship fund or otherwise facilitating butler training for those who may not be able to afford it, and so aid in making the information available to those in areas, such as Africa or Russia, where training is not currently a possibility. If the program goes ahead, we will of course advertise on this page, so watch for further news.
The Institute is dedicated to raising service standards by broadly disseminating the mindset and superior service expertise of that time-honored, quintessential service provider, the British Butler, updated with modern people skills, and adapted to the needs of modern employers and guests in staffed homes, luxury hotels, resorts, spas, retirement communities, jets, yachts & cruise ships around the world.
