Long Distance Training

What if you cannot afford:

For your existing staff or new hires to take time off from their busy schedules for on-site training? Or for them to train at a Butler school?

Or you prefer not to invest the $15,000 fee (on average), plus travel costs and wages for the two months spent training at a butler school, but you would still like your staff to receive some formal butler training?

Then an Internet-based correspondence/long-distance learning course may be a viable option.

learning onlinex200w Long Distance TrainingThe information employee trainees will receive from an Institute correspondence course will in many cases be more intensive than that available in butler schools. While there are copious amounts of practical assignments on these correspondence courses, the downside is obviously that there is no tutor on site to correct and demonstrate, and no field trips are arranged. This lack can be rectified in part by guidance on possible field trips and additional training (on such as firearms training or wine service) to be conducted in the local area, and a brief visit on site by Institute personnel at the conclusion of the training, if desired.

The course for those in the hospitality industry is based on the best-selling industry text, Hotel Butlers, The Great Service Differentiators, as well as many other industry books and DVD’s. For an outline of this course, please check the course modules here.

The Institute is also providing a course for housekeepers, which is based on the butler course and is about half its length.

The course for those in private service is based on the best-selling industry text, Butlers and Household Managers, 21st Century Professionals, as well as many other industry books and DVD’s. For an outline of this course, please check the course modules here.

Both correspondence courses include checklists detailing the reading and practical assignments, as well as projects to be done.  All students have an open line via email to their instructors for questions, and to receive guidance on professional matters. Spanish-speaking students can be assisted in Spanish.

The Butler Course takes about six months to do part time and costs US$2,500. Students must purchase their own course materials (books) via Amazon, which will cost approximately $250-$300 depending on whether you purchase new or used books, plus the shipping and packaging costs of said books ( which will vary depending on where in the world you live). As a note, from experience we’ve learned that shipping to foreign locations may cost as much as $250-$300 in addition to the cost of purchasing the books and DVDs.

A 10% discount is given to IIMB members who pay in full before starting. If preferred, students can pay as they go through the modules.

The Housekeeper Course takes about three months to complete on an intense part time schedule and costs US$1000. Four books and two DVDs must be purchased for this course ( similarly via Amazon) for a total cost of about $200.00 plus shipping.

All graduates receive certificates of completion from the Institute.
